Financial Education at Glendale’s Hoover High School

CCU, in partnership with the California Credit Union League, once again brought the “Bite of Reality” financial literacy program to freshman at Hoover High School in Glendale on May 20-22. Over 3 days, 175 students learned how to manage a checking account and personal finances through activities simulating real world incomes, budgeting, and expenses. Volunteers from CCU helped the students “purchase” essentials like housing, food and utilities while still budgeting for fun items like travel or entertainment without overspending.


Los Angeles County Academic Decathlon

California Credit Union has been sponsoring the Los Angeles County Academic Decathlon for several years, but this year we were pleased to provide an additional sponsorship. The 2014 program piloted the use of student response devices for collecting the students testing data; allowing for efficient and reliable collection. With a special contribution of $10,000 California Credit Union was able to assist in purchasing the software and devices to implement the technology for years to come and other uses.


California State PTA Convention

California Credit Union participated at the 2014 California State PTA Annual Convention on May 7-10, 2014 in Los Angeles. Thousands of spectators including parents, educators and advocates attended the 3 day event. Many visited the California Credit Union table and learned how we can support their PTA programs. LAUSD Arts Fest in the Park

On March 15, 2014, California Credit Union was one of the sponsors for the LAUSD Arts Fest in the Park at Grand Park in Downtown Los Angeles. Thousands of attendees came out to support the program which raises money and awareness for the LAUSD Arts Education Program. It was a fulfilled day with several schools performing live music, dance and performances.
