California Credit Union's student loan program now offers a range of federally-backed loans under the Federal Education Loan Program.

Need-Based Loans
(Federal Perkins Loans/ Federal Stafford Loans)

These loans carry low interest rates, and don't accrue interest until the student has graduated from school. To be considered for either, complete the financial aid process through your school and if you qualify, bring your award letter to your California Credit Union branch and we’ll take care of the rest.

Non Need-Based Loans (Federal PLUS Loans)
Federal PLUS Loans (Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students) are credit-based. These loans allow parents to borrow up the total cost of attendance, and are not based on need. A capped variable rate (9%) makes this a low-cost option. However, unlike need-based loans, repayment begins 60 days after the loan is received. You can pick up a PLUS loan application at your school or at any California Credit Union branch. Please use California Credit Union's lender code: 833739.

Alternative Financing for Education
California Credit Union offers a variety of additional low-cost financing options such as personal loans and home equity loans to help pay for education expenses.

Learn More About Federal Financial Aid
To apply for federal and most state student aid programs, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form may be found at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
