James Figueroa
Mr. Figueroa has been a volunteer officer for California Credit Union for more than 16 years, most recently as our newly elected Board Chairman. Mr. Figueroa is retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District where he worked as the Assistant Superintendent of Adult and Career Education Programs.
Figueroa joined the credit union board in 2005 and was elected as Vice Chairman in 2006. Prior to his Board service, Mr. Figueroa served as a Supervisory Committee member for 13 years and was the Committee’s Chairperson from 1995 to 2000. Mr. Figueroa has served on the credit union’s Budget Committee, Personnel Committee, Insurance Committee, and Marketing Committee.
Recognized as a leader in his field, Mr. Figueroa was previously recognized as the Outstanding Adult Education Administrator of California from the Association of California School Administrators; the Distinguished Educator of the Year from Cal State LA University Charter School of Education; and the President’s Award for Exceptional Adult Education Leadership.
He was appointed to the Select Committee for Adult Education in California in the 21st Century; and to the task force for Alternative Education in California. Mr. Figueroa is heavily involved with the Kiwanis Club of Palm Springs where he serves in the Board of Directors and as Chairman of their Scholarship Foundation.
